Tasting notes
Opaque ruby-purple, the 2017 Syrah Vellutini Ranch takes its time to open aromatically, slowly offering cocoa powder, blueberries, cassis and violets with touches of coffee, soil and mint. The palate is medium to full-bodied with bold but nuanced fruits, a grainy frame and long, lifted finish.

The 2017 Syrah Vellutini Ranch is boisterous and exuberant from the very first taste. Black cherry, plum, chocolate, leather, licorice and spice are all amped up in this full-bodied Syrah. Readers will find a bold, unctuous Syrah built on notable textural depth and voluptuousness. The Vellutini Ranch is by no means a shy wine, but it also has quite a bit of detail.
About the producer

Martinelli is a Sonoma benchmark for vineyard-designate bottlings—wines built to highlight how strongly a single site can shape Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Zinfandel. Across the range, the focus stays consistent: small-production bottlings that feel distinctly tied to where they’re grown.
