Tasting notes
The 2000 Zinfandel Duarte Vineyard, from a vineyard planted in 1896 in pure sand, exhibits aromas of white flowers, blueberries, raspberries, and cherries. For a Contra Costa Zin, it is unusually powerful (750 cases;16% alcohol). This layered, full-bodied, beautifully crafted, unctuously-textured 2000 possesses great fruit along with plenty of presence on the palate. The wine possesses an explosive bouquet, gorgeously ripe flavors, and a super finish. It is one of the finest Duarte Zinfandels Turley has made. Consume it over the next 7-8 years ... unless you are a necrophiliac. Tel. (707) 963-0940; Fax (707) 963-8683

Good medium bright red. Perfumed, liqueur-like aromas of cherry, cranberry and spices. Thick, sweet and stuffed with fruit; lovely seamless texture. Perhaps not quite as vibrant as the more tightly coiled '99, but finishes lush and long, with very ripe tannins.
