Silky, sumptuous and polished to the core, the 2019 possesses tremendous elegance and polish from start to finish. The Secret Garden is not a big wine, but rather a Cabernet that impresses with its total finesse.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Secret Garden comes from a vineyard near Dominus and Vine Hill Ranch, and it's certainly one of the standouts in the lineup. Incredibly pure notes of cassis, graphite, lead pencil, crushed stone, and tobacco are just some of the nuances here, and it's full-bodied, elegant, and flawlessly balanced. This rock star bottle of Napa Valley Cabernet can be enjoyed any time over the coming two decades. It got more than one “Wow” in my notes.
Deep purple-black in color, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Secret Garden bursts from the glass with notes of crème de cassis, boysenberries and blueberry preserves, plus suggestions of of spice cake, licorice, molten chocolate and camphor. The full-bodied palate is jam-packed with hedonic, rich black fruits, framed by velvety tannins and soft acidity, finishing long and spicy. (Tasted as a barrel sample.)
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Gravel Series Secret Garden marries power and elegance while slowly giving an idea of what is in store as the young vines at Mbar Ranch get older. In my view, the Secret Garden has the potential to become one of Napa Valley's elite wines. It is every bit that unique and special. The 2019 may very well be the finest wine I have ever tasted from Round Pond.
