Tasting notes
The 2017 Clisson from this organic estate has been wild fermented and has spent two years in cuve on lees (the minimum for this cru). While ripe and rounded, which is a character of the Clisson cru, and redolent of lees-derived character, this retains a lovely precision and vivacity. Appealing clarity of apple and citrus fruit and light in body. This is a fresher, more defined style of Clisson from a cooler season. It's pure, clean and provides definition.

Certified organic and biodynamic. 50-year-old vines on loam, granite and mica. Hand-picked. Fermented in stainless steel with natural yeasts. Élevage for 24 months on lees in underground tanks. No fining or filtering. RS <2 g/l. Exciting nose. This has spice tucked into creamy folds, jasmine and buttery pastry, green fig and cardamom. It's still coiled, structure and flavours spiral-like in the mouth, tingling with an electric current of acidity and life, but everything for now is contained. A sense of cool-pebble minerality running the length of the tongue from the midway of the mouthful to the very end. Exquisite balance. Ageing potential. (TC)
