Tasting notes
The 2018 Roasted Slope comes from the Alisos Canyon and Watch Hill vineyards and sees a whopping 8% Viognier, 30% whole clusters, and 18 months in 20% new French oak. Beautiful blackberry and raspberry fruits as well as notes of exotic peach (no doubt from the Viognier), flowers, and orange blossom all emerge from the glass. Medium to full-bodied, it has a seamless, balanced texture, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It's an exotic, singular Syrah from this estate with loads to love. Consistently outstanding wines emerge from Andrew Murray, who pulls from sites throughout the Central Coast, most being estate vineyards. Almost all terrific values, Murray's wines generally show fresh, elegant characters while still holding true to California ripe, sunny fruit.

The 2018 Roasted Slope is a gorgeous, effusive wine. Sweet red cherry, red plum and floral notes all race out of the glass. Medium in body yet expansive, with soaring aromatics, the Roasted Slope is super-expressive, even in the early going.
