The 2016 Zinfandel Bedrock Vineyard unfurls in the glass with aromas of cherries, blackberry, rose petal and aromatic bark. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with some firm structuring tannins framing a powerful, chunky core of fruit, balanced by succulent acids. It's a classic expression of this alluvial Sonoma County site owned and farmed by Morgan Twain-Peterson, and its deep, somewhat blocky profile suggests it will reward at least a couple of years' patience.

The 2016 Zinfandel Bedrock Vineyard is a massive, tannic wine. Black cherry, plum, spice, new leather and cloves are some of the many nuances that give the wine its dark personality. All of that comes through on the palate, where the wine is imposing and brooding in feel. I prefer some of the other Zinfandels in the range, but readers who seek power in Zinfandel will find much to admire here. The Bedrock is undoubtedly beautiful, but I find it a touch less complex than the very best wines in this range. Admittedly, that is a very small quibble at this level.
