Score 95/100 · Drink 2026-2034, Eric Guido, Vinous, Feb 2026

The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino displays the importance of Montosoli terroir with a vibrant bouquet of crushed black cherries blended with savory herbs, crushed rocks, nuances of underbrush and licorice. It mixes richness and depth with energy as zesty acidity elevates its tart cherry-berry fruit. Long and still gently tannic, the 2006 leaves the mouth watering as an air of leather and licorice slowly fades. This was totally overlooked in its day, but it's fantastic.
