Tasting notes
The 2023 Sauvignon Blanc Meredith Estate is the first single-vineyard Sauvignon Blanc from Merry Edwards. It comes from a two-acre block of Sauvignon Musqué vines planted around 2006 in the Sebastopol Hills area. “When Merry was in charge, we fermented this block separately, and it always came out top of the list for me,” says current winemaker Heidi von der Mehden. “It’s surprising we haven’t done it before.” It was barrel-fermented and matured for five months in used oak, amphora and 9% new French oak. It has arresting aromas of white peach and green tropical fruits, acacia, sage and tarragon. The palate balances layered, crunchy flavors with a mouth-coating texture. Vibrant acidity adds tension, and it has a long, bright finish. 280 cases were made.

A pale silver/yellow color, the 2023 Sauvignon Blanc Russian River Valley has softer floral notes of melon, dewy flowers, quince, pink grapefruit, and vanilla. It’s elegant, fruity, and supple, with lots of elegant charm and an inviting feel as well as a softly rounded texture. Drink 2025-2030.
