Score 17/20 · Drink 2018-2028, Richard Hemming MW, jancisrobinson.com, Sep 2018

30% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah, 10% Counoise, 5% Cinsault, plus Vaccarèse, Terret Noir, Muscardin, Clairette, Picpoul, Picardan, Bourboulenc and Roussanne. Far better fruit richness than the 2011, with loads of ground spice on the palate, both sweet and piquant. Long, powerful, heavy and prototypical – and still with freshness to the fruit. (RH)

Mid ruby. Thick and sweet. A little gamey and lots of liquorice. Mid evolution. Juicy. Not yet the full spread of tertiary flavours. Chewy finish. A teenager. (JR)
