Etude's 2021 Pinot Noir Laniger is named for the predominant soil type on its slope—Laniger loam. All Clone 115, it's wonderfully floral, backed by scents of black cherries and black tea. Medium to full-bodied, it's soft, supple, silky and nicely rounded almost to the point of plushness, with a deep, earthy note on the finish.

The 2021 Pinot Noir Laniger Grace Benoist Ranch is a heady, full-bodied wine. Dark red cherry/plum fruit, spice, blood orange and dried flowers stain the palate. Dense and super-concentrated, with tons of persistence, the 2021 packs plenty of punch. I would cellar this for at least a few years. It is an especially big Pinot.
