Vivid ruby. Intense red fruit liqueur, spicecake and floral pastille aromas develop suggestions of licorice and smoky minerals in the glass. Sappy and deeply concentrated yet impressively energetic as well, offering palate-staining raspberry and cherry compote flavors given lift and spine by a core of juicy acidity. Shows a striking combination of richness and elegance and finishes extremely long and seamless; supple tannins sneak in slowly to add shape and grip.

Composed of 54% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre, 14% Syrah and 2% Tannat, the 2015 Rising Tides Proprietary Red offers a medium to deep garnet-purple color and nose of smoky bacon, dusty earth and black pepper over a core of red currants, raspberry preserves, wild blueberries and a hint of wild thyme. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the palate with spicy red and blue fruits, framed by fine-grained tannins and finishing with great length.

Incorporating slightly less Grenache, yet with more Mourvèdre, the 2015 Rising Tides is 54% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre and the balance Syrah and Tannat. It's similar ruby, semi-opaque color is followed notes of blueberries, charred earth, leather and baking spices. With full-bodied richness, a savory, layered texture, notable, yet fine tannin, and a great finish, it will keep for a decade or more. This cuvée spent 18 months in a mix of new and neutral French oak, and concrete tanks. One of the reference point estates in Paso Robles is undeniably Matt Trevisan’s Linne Calodo. Matt created this estate in 1999 (with Justin Smith of Saxum), and today makes a bevy of brilliant wines all based on eclectic blends. These wines shine for their complexity and nuance as much as their textures and richness.
