Tasting notes
Buoncristiani's 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon nicely summarizes the good and bad of Napa at this time. It's a nicely balanced, harmonious effort, with scents of cherries, faint bits of dried herbs, some cassis and attractive touches of oak. It's full-bodied, supple and finishes with decent length. By any measure, it's an excellent wine. But that's as far as it goes, and it's priced like it's something more than that.

The appellation 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is rock star stuff, offering a ripe, textured, fruit-loaded yet balanced style as well as classic notes of cassis, blackberries, lead pencil shavings, and hints of tobacco and herbs. A blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Malbec, and 1% Petit Verdot, it’s well worth seeking out and is going to have 10-15 years of prime drinking. There are 680 cases produced.
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is a terrific introduction to this range. Blackberry jam, spice, menthol, chocolate and licorice are dialed up in this exuberant, full-throttle Cabernet from Buoncristiani. Give the tannins a year or two to soften.
