A ripe, unevolved, jammy, yet incredibly promising effort, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon The Core offers a monster nose of black and blue fruits, sweet tobacco, flowers, and a touch of mineral-like nuances. These carry to a full-bodied, ripe, sexy wine with a big attack, moderate acidity, a great mid-palate, and no shortage of length on the finish. It’s carrying a lot of baby fat and needs 2-4 years or so to calm down and gain some elegance, but it’s beautiful stuff. It should drink nicely through 2035.
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon The Core is jam packed with inky fruit, bittersweet chocolate, cloves, new leather, sweet toasted oak and menthol. This no holds barred Cabernet delivers the goods. There is not much subtlety, but plenty of intensity and the kind of concentration that will appeal to readers who like big, big wines. For my palate, The Core is a bit overdone.
