87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc. Cassis, cedar, cigar tobacco, dark chocolate. There's a finely brushed tannic feel and plenty of acidity. Intense and concentrated fruit flavour, as you would expect. Worth ageing, but will work as a fruity, rich, young style too. (RH)

The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is an attractive, open-knit wine that will drink well relatively early for the year. Dark red cherry, cloves, mint, new leather and cedar are all quite expressive. Succulent and forward, Mondavi's Cabernet Sauvignon is also one of the more approachable wines of the vintage and is a solid value within the high-flying world of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2013 was done with 36% estate fruit.
