Tasting notes
The 2011 Barolo Baudana is rich and ample on the palate, with plenty of vintage 2011 intensity throughout. Kirsch, sweet red cherry, pomegranate and tobacco are all nicely layered in the glass. A kick of alcohol and a slightly attenuated finish suggest this was not an easy vintage at Baudana.

Serralunga d’Alba. Mid ruby with orange tinges. Slightly soapy nose and ripe, mellow fruit on the palate supported by firm tannins. Very long; a shame about the slightly distorted nose. (WS)
Cask sample. Slightly bluer than some – pale crimson. Strong compost aroma and massive tannic charge. Vibrant and assertive. The fruit inside this corset of tannins is really rather ripe and opulent. (JR)
Cask sample. Just mid ruby with broad, orange-tinged rim. Backward but perfumed and spicy nose with a fine note of oatmeal. Amazingly powerful on the palate but beautifully built tannins that easily absorb the generous fruit concentration. Really compact and dry on the finish for the moment. (WS)
