Tasting notes
Shimmering ruby. Pungent cherry, red berry and floral aromas are complemented by a zesty spice topnote. Taut and nervy on entry, then more fleshy in the midpalate, offering bitter cherry and raspberry flavors that show very good depth as well as energy. Fine-grained tannins lend gentle grip to a clinging finish that strongly echoes the spice note.

Moving to the Pinot Noirs, there are three releases, all from the Santa Lucia Highlands. The appellation 2018 Pinot Noir Santa Lucia Highlands offers a medium ruby, almost opaque hue as well as a spicy, smoky bouquet of spiced strawberries, darker currants, underbrush, and brambly herbs. This carries to a medium-bodied, supple, beautifully textured, even seamless Pinot Noir that punches way above its humble price point. Enjoy bottles over the coming couple of years. Readers looking for high-quality wines that won’t break the bank should check out these latest releases from Luli.
