Score 91/100 · Drink 2019-2026, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, May 2019

The 2016 Pinot Noir MK Vineyard is laced with the essence of dark cherry, plum, lavender, spice and licorice. Medium-bodied and also a bit mysterious, it is quite lifted in feel, much of that coming from the 55–60% whole clusters.

The 2016 Pinot Noir MK Vineyard comes from vines planted by Paul Sloan in 1999. Made with 65% whole cluster and aged 14 months in 33% new French oak, it has a pale to medium ruby-purple color and wonderfully open, savory nose of charcuterie and earth with concentrated warm black cherries, black berries and blueberries plus notes of nutmeg and allspice. The palate is light to medium-bodied with concentrated spicy black fruits, firm, ripe, grainy tannins and great freshness to counter the long, savory finish. 75 cases produced.
