Score 90/100 · Drink 2009-2015, David Schildknecht, Wine Advocate, Dec 2009

A distinctly briny note mingles with citrus oils and bitter-sweet floral perfume on the nose of Pernot’s 2007 Puligny-Montrachet. Rich and plush on the palate, its peach fruit is persistently threaded with wafting floral and alkaline, saline mineral elements that supply counterpoint in the context of a lush, forward personality. This offers a gorgeous exposition of village character for early drinking, yet the track record suggests one should have little concern about holding it for up to a half dozen years. Veteran Paul Pernot followed up his superb though alcoholically outsized 2006s with an equally impressive collection of 2007s that he characterizes as more generous than but in many respects similar to his 2004s. He harvested most of his Chardonnay between the 6th and mid September. This site north of Folatieres is monopolized by Pernot and the Jadot-owned Duc de Magenta domaine. Good pale yellow. High-pitched aroma of white flowers. Juicy, tight and slightly hard-edged in a Pernot way, with very good cut to the citrus and floral flavors. Nicely focused, persistent village wine.

The merest hint of wet wool. Perfectly serviceable even if not desperately exciting. A little stodgy but then it's not remotely expensive. (JR)

Vibrant aromas of citrus peel, fresh herbs, flowers and spearmint. Juicy and fruity, with ripe, integrated acidity enlivening the peach, mineral and floral flavors. Finishes with a distinctly firm edge, good cut and moderate length.
