Tasting notes
(60% garnacha and 40% carinena) Bright ruby. Sexy aromas of raspberry, blackberry, anise and Asian spices, with a strong mineral undertone. Rich and deep in red berry preserve flavors but almost shockingly fresh and energetic, with nervy minerality on the back end. Silky tannins add support but don't detract from the sweet fruit. Finishes on a spicy note, with a strong echo of fresh raspberry. This estate is a partnership of winemakers Peter Fischer of Chateau Revelette (Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence), Jean-Michel Gerin (Cote-Rotie) and Laurent Combier (Crozes-Hermitage).

The 2005 Cuvee No. 1/3 is a blend of Garnacha and Carinena aged for 12 months in seasoned French oak. Purple-colored, it offers up an enticing bouquet of mineral, spice box, cedar, black cherry and blueberry. This leads to a plush, surprisingly forward wine which nicely conceals enough structure to evolve for 2-3 years. Already exhibiting considerable complexity, it will be at its best from 2010-2018. Trio Infernal is owned by three Frenchmen from Provence, Jean Michel Gerin, Laurent Combier, and Peter Fischer who purchased 50 acres in Priorat in 2000.
