From the famous empire builder and château owner André Lurton, Cruzeau’s 2005 is a soft, cedary, graphite-laden wine with an inky purple color, medium to full body, and soft tannins in a forward, opulent style. This is a beauty from Cruzeau and one of the best I have tasted from this property. Drink it over the next 4-7 years.

Smoky, cedary, mineral nose but with rich dark cassis fruit underlying it. Pretty ripe as it opens up. Smoky smooth on the palate. Very approachable already though there’s plenty of depth. Dry chalky-fine but pretty firm tannins. (JH) One of 56 Pessac-Léognan reds that were tasted blind in London for Decanter magazine in July 2008.
(tank sample) Rich and interesting. Definite Semillon richness here with some creaminess. Lots of Sauvignon focus and tightness on the front palate but this is a really intriguing wine. Lots going on here. Complex and interesting. Long and rich. Very, very white bordeaux. Long. (JR)
Very dark crimson. Sweet and gassy and not especially vinous. Elderberry juice? Smooth and well vinified. This should give pleasure though there’s a little bit too much oak on the finish, which deadens the flavour. (JR)
