Bright ruby-red. Aromas of currant, loam, licorice pastille and eucalyptus. Rich and dense but not at all overly sweet. Intense flavors of minerals, chocolate and licorice were overshadowed by nutty oak as the wine opened in the glass. This is richer but I ultimately found the Petit Vice easier to drink for its balance and freshness.

A stunner, the 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Vice Versa (97% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Stagecoach Vineyard and 3% from the Beckstoffer site) boasts abundant aromas of sweet creme de cassis intermixed with smoke, bay leaf, chocolate, incense, and licorice. Superb fruit and opulence are buttressed by impressive structure, acidity, and purity.
