Score 88/100 · Drink 2017-2024, Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate, Dec 2016

Graillot has made a rock-solid Crozes. His 2014 Crozes Hermitage is a meaty, earthy, peppery effort that has beautiful fruit, ripe, present tannin and a chewy, mouth-filling profile on the palate. It plays in the more medium-bodied, fresh style of the vintage, yet has plenty to love.

Partial whole-bunch press and cold maceration without sulphur. 50% was matured in small young Burgundy casks for around one year. Deep crimson. Lightish polished nose – much sweeter than the average Crozes. Something very savoury about this. Grainy tannins. Good energy. Something a little inky at the moment. (JR)

Bright violet. Penetrating, spice-tinged scents of fresh blackberry, licorice, smoky minerals and violet. Silky and lively on the palate; flavors of fresh dark berries and spicecake show a suave floral quality. Smooth, forward and appealingly sweet, with a fine dusting of closing tannins and very good, spicy persistence.
