Tasting notes
Jancis Robinson MW, Mar 2025

Pale verging on medium ruby. Spicy and floral and elegant with sweet red fruit and a fresh herbiness. It has the fleshiness of Grenache on the mid palate but with quite a bit of structure and a long smoky finish. (SCJ)

Composed of 67% Syrah, 25% Grenache, 5% Terret Noir and 3% Muscardin, the 2022 Le Complice is a powerful, savory counterpoint to the ethereal, graceful En Gobelet bottling. The nose is Syrah-dominated, with decadent meaty aromas wrapping around those of dried herbs and fresh purple flowers. The palate is intensely staining and saturated, leading to a burly, tannic yet balanced and beautiful finish. This will merit some time in the cellar to soften, but it should develop nicely alongside the En Gobelet.

Dark-fruited and floral nose with notes of blackcurrants, herbs de Provence and boysenberries. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins and bright acidity, showing notes of bramble berries, potpourri, chalk and sweet spices. Very balanced and lush, with a long, lingering finish. 67% syrah, 25% grenache, 5% terret noir and 3% muscardin. Drink or hold.

The earthy 2022 Le Complice opens with a herbal-tinged blend of dried black cherries, incense and exotic spice. Soothingly round and supple, it easily coats the palate mixing ripe red and black fruits and citrus as a minty herbal freshness amasses toward the close. It fades with dramatic length and concentration, a tinge of salted licorice and violet inner florals.
