Score 92/100 · Drink 2013-2023, Robert Parker, Dec 2013

The 2011 Pinot Noir Goldridge and 2010 Pinot Noir Goldridge both came from cool years. The 2010 Pinot Noir Goldridge possesses a more intense bouquet of black cherries, forest floor and spice. Excellent acidity buttresses a fuller-bodied, more concentrated wine that has more substance as well as a layered mouthfeel. It should drink well for 7-10 years. The ever reliable Tom Dehlinger continues to turn out realistically priced wines of exceptionally high quality. Their newest offerings, the Altamont Pinot Noir and Syrah, come from a hilltop vineyards planted in gravelly red soils previously called “Estate.” The Frei Road Syrah emanates from a 2.5-acre block of what was the Martinelli-owned Zio Tony Ranch. Dehlinger has never been one to utilize a tremendous amount of new oak for their Chardonnay program, and both the 2010 and 2011 Estate Chardonnays reflect that. Tel. (707) 823-2378

Dehlinger's 2010 Pinot Noir Goldridge Vineyard bursts from the glass with black cherries, cola, mocha, licorice and sweet spices. A rich, forward, voluptuous wine, the 2010 is surprisingly open at this stage. It is an excellent choice for drinking over the next few years. Hints of sage and a host of savory herbs add complexity on the finish.

Deep ruby. Complex scents of red and dark berry preserves, smoky herbs and cola, with a spicy overtone. Pungent and palate-staining raspberry and blackberry flavors are buoyed by a zesty mineral nuance. The dark berry and cola notes resonate on a long, smoky and appealingly sweet finish. Plenty rich but comes off balanced and quite pure.

The 2010 Pinot Noir Goldridge Vineyard (from barrel) emerges from the glass with freshly cut flowers, dark red cherries, spices and minerals. It reveals gorgeous energy and vibrancy all the way through to the finish. This is an engaging Pinot with a lot of potential.
