I loved the 2014 Angeli, and this is up with the finest vintages of this cuvee to date. Made from 100% Syrah that saw plenty of stems in the fermentation, this full-bodied, elegant and gorgeously polished beauty offers tons of black raspberry, cassis, licorice, caramelized cherries and background notes of roasted meats. Drink this killer Syrah over the coming 7-8 years.

Stolpman's 2014 Syrah Angeli hits the palate with intense dark fruit, chocolate, mocha and new French oak. Made in a rich, powerful style, with more French oak influence than is now common throughout the rest of the range, the Angeli will appeal most to readers who enjoy flashy, extroverted wines. Intensity and power are never lacking in Ballard Canyon. Stolpman captures all of that here. This is well done in its style.
