Lastly, the 2022 Gigondas Les Hauts De Montmirail checks in as 50% Grenache, 30% Syrah, and 20% Mourvèdre. It's another pure, balanced, incredibly impressive release from this estate that has a vivid ruby hue and offers tons of Provençal garrigue, violets, and peppery nuances, medium to full-bodied richness, and a core of both red and black fruits. It's already hard to resist yet will cruise for 10-12 years with ease.

Matured 50% in new French oak, the 2022 Gigondas Les Hauts de Montmirail exhales a deep, earthy bouquet of licorice, dry thyme, garrigue and dark wild berries. Medium to full-bodied, dense and concentrated, it's framed by structured tannins, with a muscular mid-palate that remains long and elegant on the finish. This blend of 50% Grenache Noir, 30% Syrah and 20% Mourvèdre will benefit from 2-3 years in the cellar and should keep nicely over the next decade.

The palate has firm and linear tannins with a subtle fruitcake note, menthol, eucalyptus and tobacco. Very young and has plenty of potential. A fresh and cooling note on the long finish. (AC)
