Score 89+/100 · Drink 2023-2029, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jan 2021

The 2019 Pinot Noir Legan Vineyard is a bit rough around the edges. Bright red fruit, citrus, dried cherry, white pepper and a whole range of whole cluster accents open first. On the palate, the Legan is marked by angular contours and lack of depth, both of which are impossible to miss. Duncan Arnot told me that perhaps the fruit came in a bit too cool and was fermented at too low temperature. It will be interesting to see what the next few years bring. For now, the 2019 is hard to taste. This is the last vintage of the Arnot-Roberts Legan Pinot, as the property was recently sold.
