(a blend of 84% cabernet sauvignon and 16% merlot) Full ruby-red. Currant and chocolatey oak on the nose. Fat, silky and full, with lower-toned flavors of plum and graphite complicated by licorice and violet. Doesn't offer quite the delineation or lift of the 2005 Alexander Valley bottling but still offers good energy and intensity. Finishes broader, with suaver, sweeter tannins.

A big step forward, qualitatively, for the wines of Lancaster Estate, the 2005 Nicole’s is a proprietary blend of primarily Cabernet Sauvignon. It exhibits a deep ruby/purple color along with notes of loamy soil, red and black currants, moderate tannin, and a spicy, medium to full-bodied finish. Tel. (707) 433-8178
