Score 93/100 · Drink 2020-2035, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, Dec 2019

Deep ruby-purple, the youthfully coiled nose of the 2016 Syrah Hidden Terrace Vineyard slowly gives up black and white pepper, violet, fried herbs, graphite and beef drippings plus notions of green olive and garrigue over an intense core of ripe black and blue fruits. The palate is full-bodied, rich and intense with a solid frame of grainy tannins and good freshness to lift the dense finish. Give this another few years in bottle. 192 cases produced.

This is a modern and spicy, redder-fruited style that has such innately, seductive, peppery complexity in this youthful stage. The palate has great definition and the fine, chalky tannins carry fresh red-plum and black-cherry flavors long. Drink or hold.

The 2016 Syrah Hidden Terrace Vineyard comes from a site in Sonoma County, and it has an incredibly spicy, perfumed bouquet that has plenty of blue fruits as well as classic Syrah gamey, pepper, herbal notes. Rich, medium to full-bodied, and textured, it's a ripe, sexy Syrah to drink over the coming 6-8 years. This wine is 95% Syrah and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, saw 15% stems, and spent 21 months in 20% new French oak. There are 192 cases produced.

The 2016 Syrah Hidden Terrace Vineyard is very primary today. Dense, pliant and creamy, the 2016 offers terrific textural richness, but less in the way of aromatic nuance. Time in bottle should take care of that, though. This pretty, inviting Syrah is endowed with tremendous character and personality, as all of the best Fisher wines are.
