The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Stock 16 Rows is inky and plush, with copious blackberry jam, licorice, menthol, plum, sweet toasted oak and spice. The most overt of the three Cabernets I tasted from Vine Cliff, the 16 Rows could use a bit of time in barrel to shed some baby fat. Even in the early going, though, it is impressive and also quite flamboyant.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Stock 16 Rows offers notes of raisin cake, plum preserves, dried herbs and tobacco with charcuterie and fragrant earth. The palate is big, full, concentrated and plush with bags of fruit and an earthy finish.
