2005 Williams Selyem Port Mistral Vineyard

Inky purple. Expressive, spirity nose conveys an impression of liqueur-like dark fruits, licorice pastille and violet. Sweet, lush and concentrated, with excellent lift and power to its blackberry and blueberry preserve flavors. A sexy floral quality arrives late and carries through the long, sappy, sweet finish. Cabral told me that this features almost all of the traditional port varieties, plus a little un-traditional teroldego. It's 20% alcohol (it was fortified with distilled chardonnay), and I feel it, but not in a bad way.
