Tasting notes
The 2022 Pinot Noir The Coast is a ripe red color and offers notes of kirsch, raspberries, wildflowers, violets, sweet herbs, and briny, savory undercurrents. Medium-bodied, it fills and expands through the palate with plush tannins, a seamless, lovely mineral texture. It displays fantastic balance, with a luxurious feel, and will age gracefully over the next 15 years. Drink 2025-2039. Founded in 2007, the Boars' View estate was planted by Ulises Valdez with the help of Thomas Rivers Brown, in the same geological bowl as Marcassin. The nine acres of the property planted to vines are mostly Pinot Noir, with a small amount of Chardonnay. The wine style is a significant departure from the supple and elegant wines of Rivers Marie in that they are modeled after the aesthetic of Schrader’s style of Cabernet. These are brawny wines with a more obvious stamp of oak influence and opulence and are reflective of their more mountainous, coastal terrain.
