Tasting notes
The 2021 Barolo is quite the powerhouse. A burst of red berry fruit, blood orange, cinnamon, rose petal, cedar and sweet pipe tobacco hits the palate first. Readers will want to give this a few years in bottle, as the acids and tannins need time to settle down. This deceptively mid-weight Barolo has a lot to offer. There's a lot of wine here.

Grapes come from Bricco Ambrogio in Roddi, Roere di Santa Maria in La Morra, Bussia in Monforte d’Alba, and Ravera in Novello. Lustrous ruby. Lifted cranberry nose that is still very shy and with a touch of volatile acidity. Racy red fruit with fine, clinging tannins. Mouth-watering yet filled out with fresh red fruit. Great freshness and energy. (WS)
