Score 78/100 · Drink 1997-2005, Robert Parker, Jan 1998
This wine has begun to dry out, with more of the unsavory characteristics of the 1975 vintage well-displayed. The color is a dark garnet with some amber/orange at the edge. The nose offers up more spice and earth than fruit. The ferocious level of tannin, a downfall of many 1975s, runs unchecked across the palate. The wine possesses medium body and some concentration, but the brutal sharpness of the tannin makes for an unpleasant tasting experience. Anticipated maturity: Now-2005. Last tasted 1/97
