2022 Cote Rotie La Dedicace

Tasting notes
La Dédicace is Nicolas Champagneux’s “baby” Grandes Places, made with fruit from his younger vines, which are still a venerable 40-60 years old. The 2022 is one of the prettiest renditions to date, offer a fine nose of white pepper, sweet red fruit and a lift of floral pot-pourri. The palate is crunchy and vibrant, with chalky parma violet tannins and a saline undercurrent of juicy acidity. It’s bright and pure, tart and tangy, and almost impossible to resist now, with its seamless, fine tannins. Moreish now but has everything needed to evolve beautifully over the next decade at least.

A real success, the 2022 Cote Rotie la Dedicace from Domaine Champagneux offers up aromas of violets, smoke, spices, dark berries and black tea leaves, followed by a medium to full-bodied, round and charming palate framed by velvety tannins. A fleshy core of fruit and a seamless, harmonious texture lead to a long, ethereal finish. Matured for 22 months in barrel, the oak is barely noticeable, thanks to the 60% whole cluster that brings freshness and tension. This brilliant, youthful Côte Rôtie showcases the skill of a producer who is well worth watching.
