Score 90-92/100 · Drink 2023-2032, Neal Martin, Dec 2020

The 2019 Monthélie Rouge comes from 0.5 hectares of  40-plus-year-old vines just in front of the Clos des Chênes in Volnay. It has a strict, concentrated bouquet, perfumed iris and rose petal notes complementing the red fruit. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, plenty of crunchy red berries and a harmonious and, yes, quite Volnay-like, elegant finish. Excellent.
