The 65% Merlot speaks loudest in the 2022 Clos De Betz, blended with 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot. The medium-bodied midpalate brings brightness to the red fruit, dusty tannin, and spiced oak. Structured and well-made, it should age another 10 years, if not more.

The 2022 Clos de Betz is composed of 65% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot, matured for 17 months in 30% new French oak. Wafts of glossy new oak give way to deeper tones of red cherry jam, cocoa powder and grilled green peppers on the nose. The medium-bodied palate pairs concentrated flavors with mouthwatering acidity and powdery tannins, and it has a long, flavorful finish. 720 cases produced.

Dusty and floral, the 2022 Clos de Betz lifts from the glass with a cascade of violets and roses offset by stone dust and graphite before giving way to a note of crushed blackberry. This is pure elegance on the palate, supple and pliant with mineral-infused red and black fruit guided by a core of vibrant acidity. A coating of sweet tannins adds lovely form as black cherry and dark chocolate swirl throughout the long and classically structured finale.

An enticing, savory and meaty complexity grabs attention on the nose before precisely concentrated and focused blackcurrants and blackberries crowd the palate. This sculptured, linear and well-balanced wine will age well. 50% merlot, 25% cabernet sauvignon and 25% cabernet franc. Drinkable now, but best from 2028.
