Tasting notes
The 2017 Chardonnay Zotovich Family Vineyard is pretty, floral and lifted, as wines from this site on sandy soils tend to be. Soft contours and light tropical notes give the wine a lovely sense of immediacy, while bright acids add energy. Justin Willet has done a terrific job in bringing texture to a vineyard that often yields airy wines. The 2017 will be even better with a few years in bottle. It is such an elegant Chardonnay.

The 2017 Chardonnay Zotovich Vineyard opens with gunflint, smoke, saline and crushed shell aromas, fleshing out to acacia, lime peel, white peach, chalk and dried hay. The light to medium-bodied palate is tensile, minerally and precise with warm citrus flavors lifted by tangy acidity and a chalky texture, finishing long and nervy. 52 cases were made.
