Score 87/100 · Drink 2003-2005, Robert Parker, Jan 2003
A bit angular and disjointed, with some relatively lean tannins pushing through the wine's personality, this wine shows complex smoke, herb, black currant, loamy earth, and spice box notes in the attractive aromatics. In the mouth the attack starts well, but there is a certain attenuated, tannic feel in the finish. This wine might be just beginning to dry out, with the tannins becoming the dominant characteristic. Anticipated maturity: Now-2005. Last tasted, 11/01.
