67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 2% Tannat, 8% Malbec, 14% Syrah, 1% rare varieties. TA 3.30  g/l (sulphuric) , pH 3.66. Slightly funky nose, black olive and blackberry. Slightly burnt character on the nose. Firm, slightly unforgiving tannins. The primary fruit seems to have faded away here. (RH)

Again, there is more age on the rim than the wines from before 1982. On the nose there is rich, sweet and treacly fruit. Perfumed, and the first of these wines to be so. Full, complete, flattering. At last, the tannins are overwhelmed by the fruit. This is a very distinctive, big wine, that is actually perfectly in balance – again the first wine to be so. Lovely subtle bouquet. (JR)
