Bringing forward generous Mediterranean savor, the 2011 Monteverro is potent and concentrated with warming notes of sappy earth, chewing tobacco, baked blackberries, and crushed rosemary. Impenetrable violet crimson. Concentrated, dense cassis and plum perfectly matched by a generous dollop of oak and a thick layer of bitter-sweet drying tannins. International and just shies away from being jammy. Made to impress. (WS)
