Bringing forward generous Mediterranean savor, the 2011 Monteverro is potent and concentrated with warming notes of sappy earth, chewing tobacco, baked blackberries, and crushed rosemary. The palate boasts a ripe and sweetly fruited feel, with a supple, rounded mouthfeel, full-bodied richness, and a generous finish. Drink now. Bottle 10626/13308.

Impenetrable violet crimson. Concentrated, dense cassis and plum perfectly matched by a generous dollop of oak and a thick layer of bitter-sweet drying tannins. International and just shies away from being jammy. Made to impress. (WS)
