Tasting notes
A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Tempranillo, the 2019 Red Blend The Doctor has big, spicy, savory nose of both red and black fruits as well as notes of cured meats, classy oak, baking spices, and chocolate. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, this total charmer has good balance, ripe tannins, and just an over-riding hedonistic, pleasure-bent style. It should keep for decade.

The relative bargain in the lineup from Krupp Brothers is the full-bodied 2019 The Doctor Red Wine Stagecoach Vineyard, a blend of 65% Tempranillo, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Cabernet Franc, 4% Merlot, 3% Syrah and 2% Petit Verdot. Aged 21 months in 80% new French oak, there's a pronounced barrel influence in the form of caramel, cedar, cinnamon and clove, but the cassis and blackberry fruit underneath seems ripe and should emerge with a bit of time in the cellar.
Krupp's 2019 The Doctor Stagecoach Vineyard is a racy, voluptuous Tempranillo-based red. Sweet cherry, cinnamon, orange peel and spice give the 2019 its decidedly exotic, singular profile. Floral overtones add brightness and inner perfume. This is very nicely done.
Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2019 Tempranillo The Doctor shoots forth with vibrant Morello cherries, black raspberries and fresh blackberries notes, plus nuances of garrigue, sautéed herbs and tobacco leaf. The full-bodied palate has a lively line of freshness cutting through the red and black berry layers, framed by firm, chewy tannins, finishing savory. (Tasted as a barrel sample.)
