Score 92/100 · Drink 2020-2026, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Oct 2017
(14.8% alcohol): Saturated bright ruby. Musky oak and brown spices dominate dark fruits on the slightly reduced nose, with nuances of game and tropical dark chocolate emerging with aeration. Plush, silky, concentrated wine with an almost high-toned character to its intense berry fruit; this actually turned drier in a positive way with air. Denser and more primary than the 2014 version, finishing with a firm tannic spine that will require patience. Seriously structured, youthfully imploded Syrah--and a bit less wild than the Jolie Bouche.
