The 2012 Riesling Saarburger Rausch Auslese ** (White Capsule) has an intense citrus color and displays a concentrated, still a bit reductive and yeasty Riesling aroma with ripe lemon, grapefruit and crushed stone flavors. Rich, piquant and intense, with a clear and creamy/fleshy texture, this is a full-bodied, well structured and elegant Riesling that is still somewhat bitter and lacks the transparency and finesse of a top Riesling in top form. The acidity is vital and cutting through the rich texture, but this 2012's future has not yet begun. (Tasted in March 2017.)
