Score 91/100 · Drink 2023-2028, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Jun 2023

Packaged in a heavy glass bottle, the Castello di Montepò 2019 Schidione (with Jacopo Biondi Santi's name on the front label) is a blend of 40% Sangiovese, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot from schistic galestro soils at 300 to 500 meters above sea level. It starts off slowly, then builds aromatic intensity and dark fruit concentration. You definitely taste the Cabernet Sauvignon with cola, licorice, sweet fruit and spice. Some medicinal or balsam herb appears on the close.
