2001 Esporao Reserva Tinto

The 2001 Reserva is a blend of Aragonês, Trincadeira, and Cabernet Sauvignon in unknown percentages, aged for 12 months in new American oak. It comes in at 14.5% alcohol. This is the first wine in our vertical that shows some actual fruit, although not much. There are, however, still hints of flavor. The wine adds a muscular demeanor. Even now, it has notable power, with grip on the finish. There are some very mature nuances on the nose, but this will do well as a food wine. Despite its energy, it still needs to be drunk in the immediate future. The fruit is not going to keep up with the structure. There were 455,000 bottles produced.
