The 2016 Nahe Riesling Monzinger Kabinett shows a lovely, fresh and purely mineral bouquet with bright fruit aromas and flinty notes. Juicy-piquant and perfectly round with marvelous intensity and lightness, this is a gorgeous Kabinett that is predominantly sourced from the Frühlingsplätzchen. The finish is enormously salty, fresh and highly stimulating. This is less reductive than Tim Fröhlich's Kabinett, so you can already enjoy it. Dangerous Riesling!

Hardly any sweet impression thanks to strident acidity. Lovely lemon and apple fruit – ripe, fully formed, refreshing, engaging. (RH)
Sourced as usual from the Frühlingsplätzchen, this leads with subtle yet seductive floral perfume suggestive of apple blossom and lily-of-the-valley. (A “place of spring,” indeed, this Frühlingsplätzchen!) Aromatic intimations of white peach, grapefruit and lime translate into luscious, juicy profusion on a polished palate. This finishes with a saliva-liberating suffusion of mineral salts accompanied by utmost transparency to stony, floral and coolingly green herbal nuances. Between ripeness of fruit and leaving behind only a modest level of residual sugar, this bottling reached 9.5% alcohol – high by prevailing Kabinett standards – but it certainly exhibits no lack of levity or animation, impressions accentuated by invigorating impingements of dissolved CO2.
