Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2014 tasting, the 2014 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes has a tightly wound, quite earthy bouquet, the abundant red and black fruit bursting through with time and blossoming with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple red berry fruit and a fine line of acidity, very pure and caressing in the mouth, with a nuanced, poised finish that is an absolute treat. This is another very impressive 2014 from Rion, and it comes highly recommended. Tasted September 2017.

Moderately saturated bright red. A bit less open-knit on the nose than the village Chambolle, offering slightly medicinal cherry and menthol flavors with a bit more definition and shape. In a dry, savory style, finishing with a fine dusting of tannins. More gripping than the village offering but lacks the dimension and depth for a higher score.
