Tasting notes
Not as exciting as I had expected, the 2003 Pinot Noir Carneros possesses a light to medium ruby color as well as sweet notes of pomegranate, plum, cherry, herb and incense. It is medium-bodied with an attractive front end, but falls off on the palate. Drink it over the next 2-3 years. Tel. (707) 257-5300; Fax (707) 257-6022

Good full red. Raspberry, plum, earth, spices and tarry oak on the nose. Broad and dry, but showing less fruit in the mouth than on the nose. Distinctly low-toned for this wine. Soter says the fruit came in a full degree lower than that of 2003 (14.1%, vs. 15.1%). Seems distinctly less rich in flavor than the 2002, but then this was bottled just two weeks before I tasted it.
