1999 Domus Aurea

Very hot, dry year bottled June 2001, contains eight per cent Cabernet Franc. Looks old at the rim relative to other vintages even though the crimson is very deep. Much the ripest of these wines with almost coconut sweetness on the nose then masses of ripe fruit and ripe tannins. Attractive soft texture. Could be drunk soon. (JR)
